Discoloration is a pigmentation disorder that results from excessive production or uneven distribution of melanin in the skin. They can be congenital or caused by physical damage such as sunburn, irritation, trauma, light therapy, and the natural aging process. Most often they arise as a result of intense exposure to sunlight and appear in the form of smaller or more extensive brown spots on the skin.
IPL laser treatment effectively reduces discoloration, chloasma, sun and liver spots. Immediately after the procedure, the lesions darken and then gradually peel off, which leads to its reduction or disappearance. Discoloration may reappear in the future, because the treatment does not eliminate the tendency to hyperpigmentation, but only removes its effects. Therefore, a very important element of therapy is prevention based on avoiding exposure to UV rays.
Treatment takes about 20-30 minutes. The best results are obtained after a series of 5 to 6 treatments carried out at intervals of 3-4 weeks.
